Autumn Wedding at the Memphis Courthouse

Autumn Wedding at the Memphis Courthouse

Katherine Campbell, flower farmer and florist in East Memphis, holding an autumnal bridal bouquet in front of a door at Wild Earth Flower Farm. The bridal bouquet contains a seasonal mix of locally-grown flowers arranged in a lush, wild-flower inspired design. Flowers include locally grown dahlias, heirloom chrysanthemums, and zinnias in a soft autumnal color palette.

This autumnal bridal bouquet is our favorite a la carte wedding bouquet of 2023. Not only do we love all of the rich, seasonal elements that were included – like broom corn and golden rod – but we loved working with the couple who requested it for their intimate wedding.

Two weeks before their late September wedding, Erika and James reached out to us about flowers for their ceremony at the Memphis Courthouse. They were apologetic about requesting a bridal bouquet and boutonniere so close to their wedding date – however, we were more than happy to work with them to create something special for their big day.

Erika and James revealed that they chose their wedding date to coincide with the appearance of the year’s Harvest Moon and asked us to reflect this unique time of year in their wedding flowers. With this prompt, we drew inspiration from the landscape around us in early autumn to create a gold-infused bridal bouquet and boutonniere to perfectly embody the season.

Seasonal boutonniere featuring a miniature white dahlia, greenery, and other textural elements.

Their bridal bouquet and boutonniere are true reflections of early fall – it simply wouldn’t be possible to recreate these pieces at any other time of the year. To us, this is what locally-grown, seasonal flowers are all about: unique combinations that celebrate nature.

We were so honored to be part of Erika and James’ big day – and we could not have wished for a more lovely couple to work with!
